The Black Diamonds - Fire Music
Label: Super Sound
Cat#: SS1007
Rare Groove/Garage/(Psych-)Rock, USA, 1971
Note: Ok, this is a bit of a strange one. It was originally released as The Black Diamonds - A Tribute To Jimi Hendrix on Alshire (although it has nothing to do with Hendrix). There’s a decent write-up explaining it all if you click on the RYM link above. Going from The Inner Sounds Of The Id to 101 Strings to The Animated Egg and beyond… well, read it yourselves.
Also I’m unable to find any tune from it on the tube.. I might have to record one myself later on, it’s pretty nice and I think you all should hear it.
Ok.. I upped one tune for you to listen to here, so go check it out.
Bo Hansson - Sagan Om Ringen
Label: Silence
Cat#: SRS 4600
Prog-/Psych- Rock, Sweden, 1970
Note: The album was released as Music Inspired By Lord of the Rings outside of Sweden. I love this album, I even remember when I first heard it as a teen; it was love at first listen, and I bought all his solo albums very early on (the Hansson & Karlsson albums cost a hell of a lot more.. still looking to find 1 of those at a reasonable price). Here’s a thought.. Black Moon…..?
Hansson & Karlsson - Monument
Label: Polydor
Cat#: LPHM 46 260
Prog-/Psych-/Jazz- Rock, Sweden, 1967
Note: Bo Hansson (Organ) & Janne Karlsson (Drums). Lots of improv going on, love this stuff. They played With Jimi Hendrix on a couple of occasions. Jimi even recorded their song Tax Free, which you might have heard. There’s also rumors about a live impov session with Jimi and Janne recorded after one of their gigs here in Stockholm, Sweden. From what I’ve read it seems to be real, but I doubt it will ever see the light if day.
